Altogen Biosystems is a current global provider of transfection reagents
and contract research services for researchers in gene-related fields. Some of the services that are offered include assay development, fast generation of stably-transfected cell
lines, and other laboratory services including siRNA screening. For an A375 cell xenograft model and other valuable resources visit the Altogen Biosystems website.
Bufotalin, an active component of Venenum bufonis, has long been used as an anti-tumor drug in China and has proven anti-tumor effects in cancer types. In the following study, researchers use MTT and colony formation assays to analyze the effects of bufotalin on A375 melanoma cells. Results show that bufotalin induces A375 cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase by up-regulating and down-regulating specific protein expressions. Furthermore, bufotalin up-regulates apoptosis-related proteins, in turn inducing A375 cell apoptosis. These results indicate that bufotalin may prove effective in melanoma treatment.
